about usFirst Contact
Sensetics was born after a transformative meeting between founders Adam and Rayne at Rayne’s UC Berkeley lab. Among Rayne’s many inventions was a technology with game changing potential: metamaterial microstructures interlaced with digitally controlled piezoelectrics.
Discovery of Programmable Fabric™
During lab experiments, Adam and Rayne realized that fabricating these metamaterials from flexible polymers in a single thin layer could create an extraordinarily strong, biocompatible fabric. Its shape could be digitally controlled in three dimensions—both in real time and at submillimeter resolution. This Programmable Fabric™ became the missing link for digital touch, enabling realistic tactile sensations to be captured and replayed instantaneously, unlocking a perceptive sense beyond sight and sound for virtual and robotic worlds.
Mission
Sensetics is redefining how humans and machines connect by pioneering digital touch, the third digital sense, that will help bridge the gap between the physical and the virtual. In an automated world increasingly driven by the adoption of robotic hardware and AI software, Sensetics technology harnesses a new data source — touch — to empower robotic equipment with the tactile intelligence to operate in real world settings and humans to engage more productively with both digital environments and machines. We equip people and automated equipment to learn, train, and operate through touch, creating new pathways for workforce readiness in this next stage of the digital era.
